Eric Clapton. Bobby Whitlock. Carl Radle. Jim Gordon. Duane Allman.
In 1970, these five musicians gathered in Miami and recorded Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs — one of the most celebrated albums in rock history. Derek and the Dominoes only existed for a single year, released one studio album, and never played a proper farewell. Yet the music they made in that brief window has never stopped resonating.
"Layla" alone — inspired by Clapton's unrequited love for Pattie Boyd — is one of the most recognizable guitar riffs ever recorded. Duane Allman's slide guitar work throughout the album elevated it from great to legendary. The band burned bright and fast, and left behind something permanent.
This tee is for the people who know all five names.
