"Little Richard" Premium Unisex T-Shirt
Regular price $27.99The Architect. The Originator. The One Who Started It All.
Before Elvis. Before the Beatles. Before any of it. There was Little Richard.
Richard Wayne Penniman grew up in Macon, Georgia, and in 1955 walked into Cosimo Matassa's studio in New Orleans and recorded "Tutti Frutti." The song was raw, explosive, and unlike anything that had ever been on the radio. It changed everything. James Brown said Little Richard was his biggest influence. Jimi Hendrix played in his band before he was Jimi Hendrix. Paul McCartney spent years trying to replicate his vocal style. David Bowie cited him as the reason he got into music.
He invented the visual language of rock and roll — the pompadour, the mascara, the sequined suits, the pure unbridled theatricality — decades before anyone else dared. He was openly flamboyant in 1955 America. That took a kind of courage most people can't imagine.
He called himself the King of Rock and Roll. He wasn't wrong.
This tee is for the people who know where it all actually started. Available in Lilac and Mint — because Little Richard never did anything halfway.
