Before the Sex Pistols. Before The Clash. Before punk had a name anyone outside of New York knew, Richard Hell was already living it.
Torn clothes. Safety pins. Spiky hair. Richard Hell invented the look that defined a generation — and Malcolm McLaren saw it, copied it, and took it to London. The Voidoids were the band that made it real: Robert Quine's jagged, dissonant guitar against Hell's snarl, held together by the kind of rhythm section that didn't care if it was pretty.
"Blank Generation" came out in 1977, the same year the Pistols and The Clash dropped their debuts. Hell had been writing it since 1975. He was always ahead — he just didn't get the credit until everyone else caught up.
This tee is for the people who know where punk actually came from.
