New York had been waiting. When Bond's oversold and the fire marshal stepped in, lesser bands would have walked. The Clash negotiated, rescheduled, and showed up every night for nearly three weeks. Strummer, Jones, Simonon, and Headon. Every night on Times Square, in a casino ballroom that became, for those 17 shows, the center of the rock and roll universe.
