That spontaneous musical chemistry led directly to Duane's unforgettable slide guitar work on Layla.
But the two musicians didn't just exchange licks—they traded shirts too. Eric handed over a questionable long-sleeve number covered in peacock embroidery (not his finest fashion moment), while Duane gave him a simple orange-toned tee with "City Slickers" printed in plain white letters. Duane proudly wore that peacock shirt for the rest of his tragically short life, which ended just a year later. Meanwhile, Eric brought the City Slickers shirt back to the UK, where it became a staple during Derek & the Dominoes' press photos and tour. Two shirts, two legends, one unforgettable musical moment.
